I caught about a 5lb catfish in the Potomac once, trying for smallmouth in a flood..

otherwise lots of the African catfish Clarias gariepinus, which has lungs as well as gills.. In S. Africa, using big streamers on 10wt - got them up to 20lb or so but never got a truly big one. The legendary ones live in the plunge pools below dams, feeding on the chopped-up fish from the turbines; they scare the divers going down to do maintenance, 6-7ft long..
not sure you could get those on a fly though. I never could ;-(Douglas Kretzmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07594782071750975708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-880478764413043795.post-28312971778184538502010-07-29T21:22:51.696-04:002010-07-29T21:22:51.696-04:00nice.nice.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09245535671955409800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-880478764413043795.post-1889217332942451082010-07-29T18:27:14.332-04:002010-07-29T18:27:14.332-04:00The only way I've ever stuck a cat was with wo...The only way I've ever stuck a cat was with worms or stink bait on the old Mississippi.
