A good friend of mine named Ben was set to get married midway through June. With two weeks to go until the big day, Ben was still busy working overtime and spending the precious free time he had planning for the big day with his future wife. Fortunately, I was able to break him free on a beautiful weekend day to provide some much needed stress free fishing…

Striped Bass With Tidewater Charters

Spring brings the world's largest striped bass into the Chesapeake Bay as they follow a smorgasbord of bait and other anadromous species on their annual migration on the East Coast. Although not too far away, I never got around to targeting stripers on fly or gear, but for only a few hours this year I was able to get out with Tyler Nonn of Tidewater Charters to do what he does best, catch monsters…

The New Moon

During the month of May I didn't get out fishing as much as I wanted to but I made the best of each outing. The majority of my fishing was concentrated in the three days preceding, and the day of the new moon. I find that these days can be the most productive of the month. This time of the month the fish are very receptive and feed with purpose. The only downfall was that I lost the majority of the fish I hooked in thick vegetation. By this time of year the still waters I fish are choked with weeds which makes landing determined fish quite a hassle and nearly impossible without going for a swim.

The Fish of 2012

Looking back on 2012, I realized that one of my new years resolutions was to take/fish with more people. Going back through our images, I found a whole lot of evidence of that goal being met. In 2013, I would like to continue that trend. If you fished with us in 2012, I hope you all had a good time. We sure did.

In other news, Adam absolutely killed it fly fishing for carp in 2012. Expect nothing less from him in 2013. Matt is in the process of figuring out and finding places to fish in Africa without getting himself killed or draining his entire bank account. I am just enjoying catching a wide variety of stuff whenever I can.

Expect more fishing, fish, and experiences in the new year.
